THESE creatures are not spiders although they have eight legs. Also, they only have two eyes, while spiders have three or four pairs. They have a small body, varying from 4 to 10mm in length depending on species, supported by very long and spindly legs. For this reason they are also called Daddy Long Legs. In temperate climate regions they are seen in large numbers during autumn, the harvesting time in these regions, hence the name harvestmen or harvest spiders.
