NATURE UP CLOSE and PERSONAL ~ SPIDER GALLERY ~ OXYOPIDAE (LYNX SPIDERS)

Lynx Spiders (Oxyopidae)

THE MAIN distinguishing features of Lynx Spiders are their rather long legs armed with many thin, sharp spines, and, like jumping spiders (family Salticidae), they do not weave webs to trap insects and are free ranging. They hunt actively during the day in the grass or low bushes and shrubs. Like crab spiders (family Thomisidae), they also lie in ambush to catch their prey.
